Charlotte's Web for October Book Club

We will be reading and talking about one of my favorite children's books, Charlotte's Web by E. B. White. This book won the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in 1970 and a Newberry Honor Book in 1953. It has been loved by millions readers since it was published in 1952.

This is a beautiful story about friendship of a little girl named Fern, a little pig named Wilbur, and a large gray spider named Charlotte. We will have a fun making origami farm animals and share some spiderly snacks on Thursday, October 21th 4pm.

Read the letter from E. B. White to find out more about this unforgettable story.

Sadako and the Thousand Papaer Cranes

Sadako and the thousand Paper Cranes is a moving story of a girl's brave struggle against leukemia. Sadako developed the disease when she was twelve, ten years after the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima.

Our first meeting will be at 4 pm on Thursday, September 25. We will talk about Sadako's story and Japanese culture. We will also learn how to make paper cranes.
