Happy New Year!


For Janunary book club, we will read and talk about In the Year of Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao Lord. In 1947 (the year of Boar) Shirley, also called Bandit, moved to Brooklyn from China to join with her father. This is a story of a young immigrant girl's adventure in a new culture, in a new country, and in a new school.

Three Good Deeds for November


For this month, we will share the story about a boy who turned into a goose. It is called Three Good Deeds by Vivian Vande Velde . The old witch turn Howard into a goose, when he got caught stealing goose eggs. Imagine when you try to call your mother, all came out is HONK. Howard's stuck that way until he does three good deeds. Will Howard ever be able to turn back into a boy?

Charlotte's Web for October Book Club










We will be reading and talking about one of my favorite children's books, Charlotte's Web by E. B. White. This book won the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in 1970 and a Newberry Honor Book in 1953. It has been loved by millions readers since it was published in 1952.



This is a beautiful story about friendship of a little girl named Fern, a little pig named Wilbur, and a large gray spider named Charlotte. We will have a fun making origami farm animals and share some spiderly snacks on Thursday, October 21th 4pm.

Sadako and the Thousand Papaer Cranes



Sadako and the thousand Paper Cranes is a moving story of a girl's brave struggle against leukemia. Sadako developed the disease when she was twelve, ten years after the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima.




Our first meeting will be at 4 pm on Thursday, September 25. We will talk about Sadako's story and Japanese culture. We will also learn how to make paper cranes.
