The Penderwicks: a Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy

Summer vacation is over and a new school year started. I read this book over the summer, I felt like I spent my summer with the Penderwicks sisters in their summer cottage in Arundel.

The motherless Penderwick sisters starts their summer vaction in Birkshire cottage with their botanist father and protective dog, Hound. Twelve-year-old Rosalind is practical, responsible one and mother figure to her sisters; Skye, eleven is spirited and loudmouthed; Jane, ten, immaginative and dreams of becoming a writer. The youngest, Batty is shy one and wears butterfly wings. The story of their discovery and adventure is heartwarming, fun, and sometimes sad.
This book is the winner of the 2005 National Book Award. The sequel to this is the Penderwicks on Gardam Street.
